There is only one more week left of the Sydney Biennale and if you haven’t been, you should get along to it quick smart.
Since the kids had already seen what the MCA had on for the art festival, we decided to spend the afternoon on Cockatoo Island.
And it was good to see they have increased the boat size for the free ferry since I went four years ago (I was in Europe for the last one), so wait times are greatly reduced – unless, that is, they pull away from the wharf just as they see you coming…
Still, it was a nice day to be sitting on the harbour’s edge,

The island…
My favourite piece, Li Hongbo’s ‘Ocean of Flowers’.
I love the vibrancy
and the coolest part is, these bold ‘flowers’ of honeycomb paper are the unfolded shapes of guns…
I don’t camp. But.
I have often said I would camp on Cockatoo Island. Now I have seen the proximity of the tents to one another I am not so keen.
I love this building…
Funny. This piece seemed like the place for boys to photograph girls. In the five minutes that I was standing there three couples went through the same ritual…
(I was not one of them)
Back on the mainland, we had a look at Pier 2/3, and there was more beautiful colour there…
It’s interactive and noisy as well!
So pretty.
