Sticking to a theme of European visitors cooking pancakes for me and the family (as when Iekeliene came to stay), Micke and Ellis whipped up a yummy batch – with real maple syrup – while I slept in, when they were here.
Which went a small way to make up for the fact that even though they were Swedish, they had arrived on my doorstep with
NO CHEEZ DOODLES!
!!!!!
!
Really, I am being a little harsh. After all, they were the hosts of the best crayfish dinner I have ever had (Ok, it was the only crayfish dinner I have ever had, but it was the best), so I guess showing up without my favourite food in the whole world is kinda ok. Kinda forgiven with the pancakes on top.
And they are really nice people. And they had been driving around Australia with two small kids for about a month beforehand.
So, the no Cheez Doodles is
*breathe in Jacqui*
*and out*
ok.
OK.
I said that!
But don't think for one second that if you are going to Sweden, or a Swede visiting me that you can come to my house without Cheez Doodles FROM NOW ON.
Alright!
Unless you're really really nice with a talent for seafood preparation.
My temporary next door neighbours' house….
Micke, Ellis, Norton and Aprilia landed in Adelaide, making their way up to Sydney (then beyond, to Brissy) via various campites in the wagon, but had not managed to see any of our famous deadly spiders in that time.
"No problem", I said. "I have a veritable red-back farm here at my house. I'll find you one in no time."
But, no sooner had those words left my mouth than the red-backs left all obvious haunts around my home.
It was Ellis who finally tracked this one – but it was a beauty!
Here they are, keeping Norton a safe distance from it.
No. I did not kill it.
Aprilia. The 'other' happiest baby in the world.
Lovely guests. They are welcome anytime, especially when I want to swap my house for theirs!
