It's nice to see that public opinion and debate can sometimes make changes. From my original post regarding ethics being taught in schools to this…
Final email from parents4ethics
Dear Supporter
A BIG thank you for your support in getting ethics classes introduced this year. It was a massive effort by everyone to get the Education Act changed at the end of last year. Thank you for taking the time to write to the media, contact your local MP, co-ordinate voting at your school’s P&C to change DET’s policy and most of all, letting other parents know about the option of ethics. Without your support, legislation would not have changed.
And the Coalition’s latest position? If elected, the state opposition has reversed their decision to remove ethics classes from NSW public school (read it here). So ethics classes are here to stay!
90 classes are being taught in 57 schools this term. Volunteers were trained last week and will commence teaching this coming week. The provision of ethics classes in any NSW school will depend upon the availability of trained volunteers to teach classes during SRE time, the interest level of the families for their children to participate and the availability of curriculum.
If you want to be involved with the ongoing rollout of ethics classes, volunteer to be a teacher or a school co-ordinator visit http://primaryethics.com.au/index.html to register your interest. You may have already volunteered to be a teacher or supporter through our parents4ethics site, but registering again, will confirm your commitment.
The parents4ethics website will no longer be active but will remain online as an archival testament. Catherine has written a final blog entry on the site to sum up the campaign.
Thanks again for being so proactive in your support.

And yes, I have applied to teach the class as well, only due to the poor timing of my recent appendectomy missed out on the training session. I'm now waiting on further roll-out of classes.
