We have been killing at least one huntsman inside the house each day.
Sorry to be so brutal, but if we didn’t kill them, I think they would have taken over the house by now.
I accidently stepped on one last year in my lounge room, and they hurt when they bite, so it’s a quick kill for all who darken my door.
Crazy that I have so many inside, when I have these wacky creatures outside doing the job for me too.
Meet the Spider Wasp…
This little honey is one of a few I have seen around my place. She has stung the Huntsman Spider, and paralysed it. She then tries to drag it off to her burrow so she can lay her egg on it, and the hatchling can feed on the spider.
Pretty gross.
This wasp couldn’t seem to find her burrow, or didn’t have the muscle power to drag the (un)dead weight to her burrow, because it was a good couple of hours of her just fartassing around, dragging it here and there. We were waiting to clean the deck, that’s how I know how long it took.
In the end, I think she gave up. The huntsman was just left in a corner, near my door.
More information on these not so cute creatures can be found here.
