As if 2 days to visit the waterfall wasn't enough, we backed up with 2 days to go on the boat, surfing.
I got the Survivor tan out there.
No photos from the first day. I wanted to use the underwater camera, as we snorkelled in the shallows off Namotu Island while Sonny surfed, but unfortunately, it was broken – and he didn't have much luck with the surf that day, either, which is why we did a day 2.
The watchtower/lookout at Cloudbreak
Not much surf there, though.
The kids hated the idea of getting up early and going out there again, (so did I), especially because their first experience of it was pretty dud compared to how I'd talked it up (bit of a theme there), but once they got their snorkels on, and got out in the stunning cobalt water where it was deep and the coral was huge, and then the stunning aqua water, where it was oh so clear and there were so many beautiful fish, all was forgiven.
Off he goes…
Last time Sonny and I were there, I had the zoom lens and the jetski to get surf shots, but not this time, so I only got a few, and none too close.
The rest of these pictures are Sonny's. Nice pictures. I just wish there were a few without the filter, so you could get an idea of the amazing colours, but beggars can't be choosing these things…
Like a giant swimming pool
I really want to go back there. Now, would be good.
We swam to this shallow reef and snorkelled around it. I could have spent all day doing it – being a spy into the fishes lives – it's like your own, private, enormous tropical fish tank.
No-one else around.
as far as the eye could see
We finished up checking out a sandbar, before the kids drove us home :)
