Leaving Port Douglas, I had a quick look at the beach.
Seems walking on the beach in the morning is the thing to do!
While this photo doesn't show it well, there was a mass of walkers, the whole way along the beach as far as the eye could see.
It was a beautiful day to be communing with the locals and tourists out there, but I really didn't imagine there was that many people in the town, let alone all doing the same thing!
There is a billboard on the road between Cairns and Townsville that advertises Oliveri's Deli in Innisfail, some 80kms from the billboard. I thought, geez that's a long way away for an ad.
But it worked.
All that driving time really got my mouth watering.
And it was worth the wait.
Good coffee and a great selection of cheeses, olives and meat.
I stocked up for lunch and we stopped, again at Cardwell, for a picnic.
The drive between Port Douglas and Townsville is longer than you imagine when you look at the map.
Our flight was late afternoon.
Just in time for sunset…
The leg from Brisbane was in darkness. We were tired, but we were happy travellers,
Because we were in business class…
