Nope. I haven't got many pictures fron the last couple of shows. On the Thursday, I found out my mother (who was looking after my kids) had been taken to hospital, so the last few shows were shot around some commitments, angst, and juggling. The good news is she is fine and dandy, and went home today (Tuesday).
So here's the juice from a very un-fashionable angle…
The most common remark around the photographers was in relation to how skinny the girls were this season –
it was a particularly bony season!
Not sure why. There was certainly not an abundance of food – it was very scarce – but of what did come, it was more the 'fruit' diet the girls would go for, rather than anything sustainable such as a bread-like substance. This is very much a generalisation, but I did hear a lot of 'Gluten-free', 'Dairy-free', Vegetarian and 'Vegan' calls, and if we are talking about extremely skinny chicks, I don't think restrictive diets of any type help to dispel starvation myths.
The new venue was great – except for the dreadful lighting in so many spots backstage. Honestly, I don't know how the make-up artists managed with it.
I found pieces in every collection that I would love to wear, so I'm a pretty hopeless fashion writer because I will give you no details – though I'm sure there is comprehensive write up of every show, in minutiae, for you, my readers, dissection.
Our accommodation was nice enough at the Pullman, though not the Shangri-La of last year (beggars can't be choosers, and I am grateful even if I sound jaded. I'm thinking more of the other delegates who are keen to witness the splendour of Sydney and are allotted with a 'nice' hotel on the ass end of Oxford St, instead of a superb five star establishment with sweeping views of our best trump card… the harbour).
MAC has beautiful make-up products. No. I don't have to say that. I really do think that.
Pommery as a sponsor was a good call.
As usual, it was a fun week, but I'm (unfashionably) exhausted.
I'm glad I have a year between these gigs!
