Perth’s Cohunu Koala Park was a must-see on our itinerary. Not for Sonny and I, but for our overseas friends.
Ever since she was a child, Diane had wanted to hold a koala, and when I was in New York with Miguel, we talked so much about the cockatoos and lorikeets that we feed on our fence, he really wanted to see them…
…and that’s the nice thing about foreign visitors – they force you to do things you wouldn’t normally do in your own country, and you get the pleasure of being reminded about how special your home is.
Sonny (Hammond) with Skippy…
“What’s that Skip’?” “You found an engagement ring and a ticket to the Maldives down a disused mine shaft, but if I rescue the old man’s wounded dog, as a reward, l can give the ring and the ticket to someone special?”
Lots of photo moments.
Diane got her koala…
for a ‘shaded view’ on marsupials
Then it was Miguel’s turn
and Graham’s
and Konstantinos’
My favourites, though, were the “Hello Darlings”. Average video, but they are so cute…
After the zoo, we passed through a landscape of blackboys. I had to stop and get some pictures.
And at the hotel where Diane and the boys were staying, there was a bit of wildlife going on in the gym…
Interpretive gymnastics, anyone?
Down at Freo, where Sonny and I were staying, we found a different kind of wild life
I did find it a little disconcerting that this statue of Bon Scott was so tiny. The man himself was not huge, coming in at only 5’5″, but this statue, while making him look otherwise very rockstar, seems to be emphasising the height thing a little too much
Time for fish and chips, and just like when we were in Adelaide, Sonny couldn’t resist feeding the local vermin – I don’t love seagulls, but they make for good photos.
