Good to see that a small groundswell of support has tipped the scales in favour of ethics classes being taught in primary schools as an alternative to religious education (instead of colouring-in class – see my previous post supporting Ethics classes).
I'll be looking forward to my girls joining the Ethics class next year (yes, I am volunteering to teach it), and hopefully Evan, too, though not sure at this stage if they will roll classes out, across the board, and I think Evan's Catholic scripture teaches will miss him if he leaves. Recently they told him he was the best student they'd ever had!
I said to him, "Evan, do they know about you?" "Do they know you don't believe in any god?". He just smiled his gentle smile, and said "No, Mum".
If that 'aint ethics, I don't know what is!
