A long time ago, in a decade far, far away, I went to nightclubs and huge dance parties.
I knew the right people, and I went to the right places, even though for the most part, I was not the right age to be doing this.
There is currently an exhibition running at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney showcasing this decade of excess. Big shoulders, big hair, big parties. On Saturday night Sonny and I went to the opening.

There's some pictures of Sonny's on the slideshow featured throughout the exhibition, if you are going, including a great one of Grace Jones at the 1988 New Year's Eve RAT party, but I'm not here to go on about his photos. No.
I'm posting this, when I really should be going through my backlog of photos instead, because I'm so excited about the pics I took there on the night. I love 'em.
The model's not bad either.
How Soon is Now
Taking these pictures made my night. I was really looking forward to the night, thinking I would be catching up with a tonne of people I hadn't seen for years, but it didn't happen that way. Perhaps it was because there are so many other functions on at this time of year, or maybe some are just getting a little too old for it?
Johnny, where were you?
Your poster is up there.
There was yummy food, but we got there too late for the drink tab, and the queue to the bar was very long. We snuck back upstairs while Pseudo Echo was on stage downstairs, and had the place pretty much to ourselves.
See that ghosting to the right of the picture. That was going the whole time, like a projection running 1ft above the game. Not sure how it happened (no, nothing to do with huge parties from the 80s), but it was very cool.
