Friday night. Berzerker’s birthday, and what more fitting tribute than a 6ft Hick gig backing up on last week’s (my birthday) Gentle Ben gig?
The new bandroom at the Sandringham is big and sprucely, compared to the old one as modeled here, by Evan, and it was packed. Grand Fatal supported, the old stage had a tattooist in residence and it was all happening. Actually, would have loved to grab some shots of the tattooing, but missed the boat when the band came on.
Haven’t seen them for over a year. Why don’t you come to Sydney more often?? Love them. Smile and jig about the whole time. That’s why I never have photos of them. I’m hardly going to take a camera with me when I’m up the front jigging around and barging annoying people out of the way….
People like this guy…
Yup, that dickhead at the front, who spent the whole gig sticking his finger up at the band in excitement (?).*
Besides. I see bands to enjoy myself. I don’t want to have to worry about an expensive camera.
There I am. Front and left. These shots by Sonny.
How good is this one!…
Lucky for me Sonny doesn’t mind worrying about cameras at a gig and, under a little duress, let me grab his for a few shots.
Here’s a (not terribly frugally edited) selection of my photos…
What’s not to love about the brothers Corbett!
Boys want to be like them, girls want to be with them, and they are a photographer’s dream.
All killer. No filler.
If you’ve never been to a 6ft Hick gig you’re missing out, and you’d better hurry up and get to one.
It is champagne entertainment, and if “you say no to champagne, you say no to life”.
*What’s that about??? Super stoked guy, yelling, giving them the finger, and that other special motion of flicking the tongue out between his fingers?
What does that mean? Is that a way of proving how much you enjoy the band, or does it just prove you’re a dickhead? Anyway, guy was in my way, and I had to dance him out of the way which would have been tricky with an expensive camera.
