Not counting the skyrockets-in-flight variety…
En route back to Belgium we passed by one of Europe's finest examples of a tourist attraction.
Forget the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, the Swiss Alps and the Athenian Parthenon.
A rival to Australia's own 'bigs' – banana, pineapple, prawn, sheep. etc…
I present to you,
The Big Boar!
We leave Champagne behind, and still get 'champagne' tourist attractions!
Fantastic!
Onto Dinan (or Dinant, depending on how much phlegm you add to your language), and some very pretty Belgian countryside.
But we weren't there for the scenery. Nope, food was the lure.
To be specific, Couques De Dinan.
Huge, hard (like a baby's teething rusk), slightly ginger-flavoured biscuits.
Initially, I was less than impressed with them, wondering how they had got away with such a dud recipe, but they are quite addictive, and I did end up eating all of mine during the rest of the drive – the kids still have a little bit of theirs left, and it's a month on!

Random, cool photo Evan took of Belle

Hilda whips up a light…
and a fabulously yummy dinner…
That's mussels in the foil!
And since I'm talking about food, here's my favourite breakfast again…
Goat cheese wrapped in bacon. mmmm. I salivate as I think about it!
And finally, let me introduce you to the most delicious sweet treat in the world…
Neusekes
Made in patisseries of what tastes like a raspberry flavoured thick icing coating with a gooey raspberry flavoured centre, they are so moreish I can't resist. I have tried to find a recipe online, but the closest I've got is one that actually has the neuseke as an ingredient in itself –
if anyone can help…
