Resort equals pool, doesn't it.
Unless it's one of those dud eco-resorts that aren't really resorts – cos they don't have a pool.
Pool Resort, at Port Douglas has a pool.
Actually, it's got a good three olympic pools worth water for swim fun spanning the length of the resort, all just a plunge from the balcony of your room.
But, wait. There is more.
We didn't stay in a room that opened onto this pool
We stayed in a room with our own, personal plunge pool!
Cue photo of small child plunging in said pool…..
We still made use of the big pool – it's just so big, and so fun –
but it's pretty fun making kids go nuddy in the plunge pool first thing on a cool morning, too.
That's India underwater in the above pic, and here's Belle, all awake and refreshed after her swim….
Evan demonstrates the wake-up effect, of a cool dip with this
before…
and after…
Our apartment was great.
Three bedrooms. The two the kids used both opened out on to a water feature,
(this next one is a bit better – courtesy of sonnyphotos)
and the shower opens out (if you like) as well, giving a feeling of an outdoor bathroom…
The master bedroom has an open ensuite, with a bath. Yes!
(and yes, this one seems a little crooked too)
The kitchen is literally cooking with gas, and has a dishwasher – why anyone would want to wash dishes on holiday is beyond me –
so I actually chose to cook!
The apartment opens out to (I want to say swampy, because I love that tropical swamp feel, but swampy probably conjures a negative image, so instead I'll say) lush vegetation, and feels very private.
Pool Resort is fabulous enough to be a destination in it's own right – spacious, bright and airy, all clean white lines, and attractive art work. It's also surprisingly well-priced, so it's definitely the place to stay if you are visiting all the sights of the tropical north.
We did surprise the kids with this one.
They were so stoked, I think it made up for the boat!
