An unusual name for a wine, but it didn't stop me enjoying it. The pinot gris as a rose was light, bright and full of interest, while the sparkling was far more savoury than I had thought (as a riesling) it would be.

we head for the salt of Lake Bumbunga.
A return trip for me, I had photographed and written about it in Australian Traveller magazine,
and I'd talked it up to the kids.
It's tiny compared to Lake Gairdner, I said, but the salt is pink, and with the water on it…
… well, it was nothing like last time. It was dry, even sandy in parts,
but no less extraordinary.
