At least, he could be.
Milano for the week, fashion week, that is.
Another new adventure for me. Having never been to Milan, I was pleasantly surprised. I remember, 100 years ago when I was a model, being offered the opportunity to trudge the dirty streets of Milan, if I put up the airfare, but was turned off the idea by what people said about it being an ugly, industrial town, and the fact that I really didn’t want to be stuck there alone, not knowing anyone (whereas in Tokyo, everything was paid for upfront, so I was willing to take the loneliness risk).
Milan is not an ugly, industrial town. I thought it was quite nice, not even as polluted as Paris, and (unlike my disappointments in Rome) the food was delicious and cheap.
I spent a fair amount of time in the apartment uploading photos for Sonny, while he was busy taking more at the shows, but we did manage to get out each day for a look around.
Like when we went to the Henrik Vibskov show. The kids really enjoyed that. They’d never been to a fashion show before and were a bit of a novelty there.
Later in the week, we were outside the Versace show, because India wanted to meet the models. I love the shadow play…
Meeting models…
with Ruby Aldridge,
and Bregje Heinen,
Jules Mordovets,
Evan’s not so sure about Bryan Boy…
Then with Alana Zimmer.
Spotted this gorgeous girl modelling outside the Duomo
but look at the idiot behind her…
just getting in the way. No idea!
View from the back of our apartment…
…and then, again, at sunset
Duomo scenes…
Milan’s old and new. Fashion shows live on the big screen next to the Duomo.
It’s lovely being able to climb up and sit on the roof, especially when the weather was so nice. The kids were inspired, and wanted to sketch.
There you go, Sam, you made it to Milan too!
Nice basilica. You can tell I didn’t get out of the apartment much…
Lots of photos, all of the same thing…
Mmmmmmm. Mmmmilanese mmmmmarzipan mmmmushrooms.
Just like the Swedish ones, only yummmmmmy!
For our last day in Milan, the kids and I visited ‘Schiller St’, in one of Milan’s many parks.
Topped off with one last gelato.
We like Milan!
