I was bouncing all over the place when I heard that the photo I took of Sonny for Swatch watches was a full page picture in Sleek mag.
Concept, me. Styling, me. Art direction, me. Photography, me. Digital styling and editing, me.
Me, me, me, me, me.
See.
It's all in the name, right?
Right??
Wrong.
As I happily poured over MY photo, my eyes fell on the spot where my name should be – as a credit at the bottom. Not only am I not credited, as in, "Photo by some mysterious, yet talented person", but MY credit has been given to Sonny!
It reads "Sonny Vandevelde, photographed by himself somewhere on this planet".
Photographed by himself!? What? How? With India's face reflected in his lens!
So wrong.
It should have read,
"Sonny Vandevelde (pictured with India), photographed by Jacqui Turner, Suances, Spain".
That would have been right.
It's not exactly like I'm famous. A credit matters.
I need all the marketing help I can get.
And, I was really proud of that photo!
I had two photos published in magazines while I was away.
For a second issue in a row, Australian Traveller magazine gave me a runner's up prize, this time for a picture I took at Stockton sand dunes.
Which was nice.
Except the credit is just for "Jacqui".
