The pre-dawn air, as I ran barefoot through the red dust from the shower block to my room, was vicious and biting.
I can only imagine the dread our summer collection models, Bay Berger and Megan Irminger, felt as their breath hit the brisk air and created steam while sitting inside the rec room for make-up and hair.
Not that Megan was showing any fear…
Still dark outside
and just as dawn broke there was a flicker of still air, between the taut chill of the night and the open breeze of the day, where it wasn’t cold, where the low mist hugged me a little, and it was beautiful.
Momentary repose before daybreak.
and quite a different look from last time I was there.
Light?
and, first shot.
Warmish crew…
Unwarm models…
Second shot…. crew still rugged up.
And still a gorgeous summertime for the girls…
Wild!
Ok girls, that hazy, slight elevation in brightness is the sun burning through the clouds, so it’s getting warmer.
Right?
Not really right.
The morning of the shoot, Adelaide airport had closed due to frost.
I think the girls were numb.
Love our plane parked in the background…

Cute dacks…
Aaah… sun.
Blue sky
and red dirt. Love it.
Great, bold colours. Fantastic contrast.
The truck shot…
Fun, fringing details…
The collection is titled ‘Paradise Frontier‘, and from the frontier looks of the sheep station, we headed to (at least for me) a special kind of paradise…
The salty Lake Gairdner
and it was so different to last time we were there
It was wet!
And that’s one of the things I adore about these salt lake landscapes.
As I’ve said before, I love that they are ever changing.
Who’s shooting who?…
Salt-filled emu print…
Road to…? (not our tracks)
The stillness.
The reflection.
It’s spectacular.
Brights
and here comes Jesus…
To set up the next shot.

So in love with these next shots, I just have to run them out as a series…
Incredible beauty to remind us how lucky we are.
As the sun sank further, we had to wrap.
A few parting shots and it was gone.
A long, and very cold day put to bed.
We had a great crew,
and a location that produced some fantastic images.
And that’s what we came for.
See more of the real stuff over at Sonny’s place.
