Not long after getting back from Europe, and even sooner after Sonny's return, we headed to the Central Coast for Sonny's brother's wedding.
Accommodation options on the Central Coast are not good value. Better than the Hunter area which is so incredibly overpriced for what is offered that I think moving there and starting a decent B & B could net me millions, but compared to what is available for the same price in Sydney, it's pretty shameful.
Way too spoiled after our fantastic stays in Europe and keen to stay somewhere nice without the kids I booked in at the Mirvac owned and built Magenta Shores. From the pictures on the website, $230 per night seemed reasonable, especially when the 3 star motel down the road charged $155 room only.
From the pictures on the website I can now see Mirvac have a great team of advertising spin doctors – the rooms are very average. Spartan, even. No desk, no sofa, and the bathroom, ugh! No bath, and the shower head like my crappy one at home. For $230 I want at the least a massage or rainwater head. No compendium, either. I love a compendium, but none there. Just little stand up cards with ads (3 different ones scattered through our room) encouraging you to purchase one of the 'villas' there. It's clear that sales (and golf), not 5 star resort accommodation, is what Magenta Shores is about, but even as a development it's pretty cheaply put together.
hehehe. "Fire Extinguisher". I thought they were in ceilings in hotels!
Now I feel a little mean, but I want to be honest. Perhaps the other rooms are a little better appointed – we were in the budget rooms. The staff were friendly, and if you like golf, the course looks pretty good. But all up, it's a little disappointing.
Now, lets get back to the purpose of our visit…
Kenny and Kristy getting married.
Oooooh that was a wet weekend! Not to be expected in early November, and they had planned for an outdoor ceremony, but they were so lucky, the rain holding off until everyone was safely back indoors.
I took some photos, but not like usual. Still feeling that sickness I had in Milan and Paris, I stepped back and let Sonny do a lot of the work. Now I can be slack about passing them on to Kenny and Kristy in favour of clearing some other backlogs, but it means I can't show you any here until after they get them.
The ceremony was lovely (as ceremonies should be) and the reception had the most delicious lamb I have ever eaten – and a fine bubbly selection, thanks Kenny.
Here's some other snippets…
Kenny with Sonny (as always running late with a computer open, but this time to grab a song for the wedding) as he gets help, getting into a suit. A rare clothing event!
oh but why oh why with those shoes!…
Belle and India with Kenny's daughter, Coco.
Just how a Bentley chauffeur should look….
Congratulations KV and KV!
Another month or so, for the rest.
